I called again and immediately transferred the call to the second handset only to be disconnected after 1 minute. I called back and without using the speakerphone, the call was disconnected at 55 seconds (right next to the base station). Needless to say I will be returning this phone and answering system ASAP. I just bought this phone and answering system a couple of days ago and had just set it up. In the first 55 seconds of my first call it sounded great, and then I pressed the speakerphone button and it hung up. I then tested the number that I called with my old phone and my cell phone and I had no problems.
You would get better quality and reception by tying a string to two tin cans, and it would cost less than these phones did. Do not buy. The static is so bad that I had to hang up during a conference call for work the other day. If I walk into another room with any of these phones, the person I'm speaking to will tell me they can't hear me at all. The static is so bad on these phones, that they only work in the living room of my house. I bought these phones about a year ago, and I'm sorry I didn't stick with my original gut feeling to return them. I have the three phone model, and the three phones only work in the living room - even the ones located in the bedrooms will only work in the living room. My boss even highly recommended that I needed to buy new phones.

So, when I hear this I say " choose Uniden and you'll never make a mistake twice".My newest Uniden cordless phone system works like a dream, and as I expected.
Read the other reviews too, and don't waste your money on this phone. Bad assumption. I've never had a phone that couldn't read the called ID info before, and my disappoint when down from there with this alleged "phone". I actually bought three sets when Target had them on sale at christmas, thinking it would be nice to have interchangeable handsets. They are incompatible with each other.
Don't waste your money. There is ALOT of interference on them.sounds like you're talking in a wind tunnel. There is a reason why these phones are so cheap.Trust me, DON'T BUY THESE. Stay clear of these phones. I hardly have talked on the phone since I have purchased them. I'm sticking with Panasonic.
